WORK PHILOSOPHY

I am an innovative storyteller with 6+ years of experience in the production of various multimedia, 4+ years of experience in creative writing and publishing, and 3+ years of experience in team leadership and facilitation. I am specialized in narrative design, process streamlining, and interdepartmental communication. My skillset combines an education in audio, business, and writing, training in media production and content coordination, and an enduring passion for making things better.

I believe that good processes and people are the means by which deliverables achieve efficiency and quality. This is why I lead with empathy, which augments team loyalty, engagement, cooperation, joy, and creativity. Here are some ways in which I exemplify these standards:

Products | I love working in a fast-paced multimedia environment. I believe that mastering one medium necessitates proficiency in every medium. For that reason, I am capable of producing print publications, digital publications, prose writing, graphic design pieces, audio, video, web dev, and professional-grade photography. I began as an audio engineer, where DAW navigation and speed were essential to success. This spurred a passionate curiosity for other digital workstations and media. With a knowledge of the involvement in each step of the creative process, I am capable of creating and managing projects. I know what it takes to deliver content, and I seek to improve upon that timeline through delegation, innovation, and strategy.

Processes | I embrace the cliché, "work smarter, not harder." Having worked for established, snail-pace institutions, I know how important it is to innovate processes. I don't want to waste my time or your money having to jump through hoops. I streamline communications, projects, teams, and content—I work as the crow flies. Streamlining is most effective when it combines automation, task management, and organization, with a multivalent perspective on the work involved at every level.

People | Having directed the work of multiple teams, I have a passion for internal formation and external growth. For that reason, I concurrently acknowledge the present state of my team while striving to reach our full potential. This requires stellar communication and leadership. Successful communication is humble and participatory; the more we see team members (not just team objectives), the greater our capacity for forward-looking team dynamics, facilitation, and coordination. We cannot tend a garden without getting our hands into the soil.

CAREER GOALS

Where would I like to be professionally in five years? Great question.

I am working towards leading a team whose responsibility it is to create, collaborate, and innovate. I want to work in a place where I may invest my specializations in narrative design, process streamlining, and interdepartmental communication as I seek to improve upon a forward-looking team dynamic.

My work experience includes the delivery of content in a variety of formats, including audio/video projects, graphic design, website development, print and digital publications, and photography. I pair proficiency in creative tech software (i.e. Adobe, Apple, and Microsoft) with expertise in Content Management Systems (i.e. Wordpress, Wix, Squarespace) and Social Media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube). As such, I excel at innovating and streamlining processes, storyboarding and creating new marketing material, strategizing and packaging content for online distribution, and managing social media as a foundational source for fostering community and building a stronger support base. My hope is to continue to create media with a holistic approach to content coordination, communication, and branding/marketing that may be channelled into a career in writing and narrative design—and, quite possibly, novel writing.

I’d also like to reflect the training I received at Belmont University (B.A., Religion and the Arts / Honors with concentrations in Audio Engineering and Music Business) and Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div.). These programs illustrate a high level of achievement and a capacity for extensive research and writing.

My five year career goal doesn’t involve slowing down any time soon; I will push myself to provide the absolute best product/process/person that I can.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

ONLINE MEDIA

I’ve worked with a variety of teams to develop, design, and populate websites and various multimedia, including the following:

PHOTOGRAPHY

I specialize in nature/landscape/environmental photography, but I am actively developing my proficiencies in portrait and abstract photography. You can view my photography portfolio here.

WRITING — BLOG

I enjoy writing descriptive pieces inspired by my travels. I currently have posted reflections from three journeys: a 2014 study abroad trip in Europe, a 2016 road trip around the Ring Road of Iceland, and a 2017 field education placement in Cape Town, South Africa. You will also find ministry pieces, transcripts, and poetry in my writing portfolio.

WRITING — NOVEL

On October 30, 2015, I self-published my first (and currently, only) novel. It is called To Smile More. You may read more about it here. I would like to write another novel—inspired by Lewis, Tolkien, and the Norse skalds—but this is only in the early stages of conception.
